As cool being able to let loose on a famous race track may be, track days often come with a lot of risks, and not all those involved seem to acknowledge them.
For many, especially those with little to no track experience at all, simply being there and being able to ride hard on the same circuit they watched their idols chasing racing glory is a tad too much to bear. That is, some of these folks may feel a bit overwhelmed by the thrill of the outing and might become less aware of what their presence in such a place involves.
Ignoring even one rule can lead to penalties and, given the high level of competitiveness and the speed, to very serious crashes. As fierce enemies riders may be on the track, none of them will ever ignore the safety precautions that make a race end without incidents.
The German Police investigate an incident apparently caused by a 44-year-old Honda rider who, upon re-entering the track, miscalculated the speed of the approaching pack. The police say that he collided with a 31-year-old Kawasaki rider, bouncing into two other riders, both aged 24. One of the bikes even caught on fire as can be seen in the footage below.
Three of the four riders have been hospitalized with severe injuries, but luckily, no casualty was reported. The damage caused by the crash is estimated around €50,000 ($55,175). More info will become available as the police investigation carries on.
