Until the second-generation Audi R8 V10 came on the scene, the original was regarded by many as the poor cousin of the Lamborghini Gallardo. On the upside, the Plus variant of the 2017 Audi R8 V10 veered away from its past stigmata. Then again, the Audi’s Italian step-brother has better styling and one of the best badges in the game.
The question is, though, which of the blood brothers has the edge on off-the-line acceleration? Acceleration is dependent on multiple factors, including traction, grip, gearing, shifting style, the torque curve, weight, launch control, and the list goes on and on and on. Only a drag race could answer this question, and thanks to the peeps over at Top Gear Poland, we now know who’s who.

Which one will win the inevitable match-up between the 2017 Audi R8 V10 and 2016 Lamborghini Huracan LP 610-4? You’ll find that out by playing the video below. But before you do that, try to guess who the winner will be by playing a game of Top Trumps.

What we have here then is a duo of European supercars powered by virtually identical engines. From a displacement of 5.2 liters, the naturally aspirated motor produces 610 PS (602 horsepower) and 560 Nm (413 lb-ft) of torque.

Both models deliver their maximum torque at 6,500 rpm and their maximum horsepower at 8,250 rpm. Vector in a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic and you’ll understand why both of them sprint to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 3.2 seconds. Other than the size of the wheels and tires, these ground-to-ground missiles boast nearly identical drivetrains and performance specifications.

Last but not least, will an advantage of 70 pounds (32 kilograms) give the edge to the Lamborghini Huracan in a drag race with the Audi R8 V10 Plus? There’s only one way to find that out - just press play and don’t forget to enjoy the V10 ruckus at maximum volume.
