One of the iconic H-D machines, the Fat Boy takes a firm step on the dark side with the 2016 model year S incarnation. The MoCo planned a single color for the bike, and that color is black. However, customers can choose between the matte Black Denim and shiny Vivid Black liveries, but that's about it when it comes to graphics.
The wheels are true to the bobber aesthetics rules, and Harley used the Black Bullet Hole cast aluminium disc rims with polished accents for both the front and the rear, a cool and sober match for the blackened fork legs and covers.

In fact, the rest of the bike is also black, and this includes all hardware and controls, floorboards and exhausts, engine and all. Such an extravagant, liberal use of black accented only by several diminutive shiny parts was usually reserved to the CVO machines, but it looks like Harley is onto something here.

They feel like offering the exquisite CVO looks in other packages that are also more affordable, hoping to increase ownership satisfaction and make a bolder statement as to the length they are willing to go to show off.

Screamin' Eagle Twin Cam 110B Engine powers the Fat Boy S

The biggest news for the 2016 model year Fat Boy S is the addition of a new engine. Milwaukee installed the Screamin' Eagle Twin Cam 110B air-cooled powerplant displacing 1,801cc and producing 147 Nm (108 lb-ft) at 4,000 rpm, breathing through a matching Screamin' Eagle Ventilator intake.

H-D Smart Security, ABS brakes, ergonomic hand controls and cruise control are all standard equipment. Multiple aftermarket options are available from Harley, in case you feel like personalizing the bike even more. US customers will get the base, vivid black version for $19,699, while the 2016 Fat Boy S will be available across the pond for €22,715, base price in Germany.
