2015 Honda VFR800X Crossrunner Receives Multiple Updates

Honda has revamped the 2015 model year VFR800X Crossrunner, with tweaks in both the technical and the aesthetics departments, now offering more power, more compliant suspensions, redesigned bodywork and multiple other high-tech electronic feats one could expect from a modern bike in this segment.

The 800cc V4 engine was upgraded, and it gained 5 horsepower, from 101 to 106 @10,250, with a better torque response in the lower and middle range, for a stronger-pulling grunt in casual urban riding scenarios. The VTEC technology was of course kept in place, with the response and dynamics of the engine changing and using all the 16 valves as the revs go up.

New aluminium swingarm and rear subframe have been manufactured, with a longer suspension travel, now 25mm () for the forks and 23mm () for the rear shock. The adjustable seat, 5-stage heated grips and self-canceling turn signals are also standard trim. The 17” wheels are hollow cast aluminium, accommodating ABS and radial 4-pot front calipers for the dual 310mm rotors. 120mm and 180mm-wide tires are standard for the front and rear, respectively.

Honda also equipped the 2015 VFR800X Crossrunner with new LED lighting elements and a Selectable Torque Control System (S-TCS) which has a two-mode (plus off) limiter reducing the torque deployed to the rear wheel when the tire starts slipping.

Definitely not the ultimate adventure bike, the 2015 Honda VFR800X Crossrunner has a low exhaust silencer which allows the installation of racks and full-sized panniers, with enhanced storage for longer road trips. The price will most likely be known right before the bike makes it into the European dealerships in early December.
